CARSON CITY — A contentious invoice that will finish a COVID-19 period requirement for day by day room cleanings is headed to the Meeting flooring after being authorized in committee Friday afternoon.
Senate Bill 441, which might repeal laws from the 2021 legislative session that required day by day room cleanings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, was authorized on a vote of 12-1. Assemblywoman Bea Duran, D-Las Vegas, was the one no vote.
The invoice was authorized 18-3 by the state Senate final week, with Sen. Fabian Doñate, D-Las Vegas, Edgar Flores, D-Las Vegas, and James Ohrenschall, D-Las Vegas, voting no.
Proponents of the invoice, together with the Nevada Resort Affiliation, argue that the rule is “extreme” and now not obligatory. However opponents, together with the highly effective Culinary Union Native 226, say the rule’s repeal may result in housekeeper layoffs.
